National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

On Sunday we set out to hunt for the perfect Christmas tree.
I think Cory had a "Griswold family Christmas tree" moment when he spotted one half way up the mountain. He wanted to hike up to check it out. In the snow. With saw in hand. How was he going to carry it down? I don't know. There he is on the left, the tree on the right, and that hill is a lot steeper than it looks.

Luckily that one didn't make the cut. We ended with the one that I had originally spotted from the road.

No, we aren't putting that whole thing in our living room. Just the top part, but when you cut the tree you have to cut it at the base.
Mission accomplished.
We hot home and dug out the lights to put up on the outside of the house. Cory had another Clark W. Griswold moment while trying to put up said lights. The little plastic hangar thingies that go on the gutters were brittle from the cold, our hands were like little popsicles, he had the bulbs pointed up, and I like them pointed down. So he had to start over (after a small tantrum).

The lights are up, the tree is still in the garage (it will come inside and get trimmed this weekend). Now we are sitting here, watching probably my most favorite movie of all time. Keeping warm, sipping on hot cider with a splash of spiced rum.

You two are adorable! I can't imagine what a tantram from either of you looks like! Enjoy your Christmas preparations...
